Psychosocial risks are increasing

Workplaces all over the world are in the middle of a mental health crisis. The World Health Organisation (WHO) reports that depression and anxiety disorders are the leading causes of illness and disability worldwide, and that workplace stress is a major contributor to these conditions. This mental health crisis began well before the Covid pandemic but has been exacerbated by this recent crisis. In response to the critical need for wellbeing support in the workplace, Safe Work Australia published a model Code of Practice in 2022 that provides clear guidance on what Australian businesses need to do to be compliant with OH&S mental health laws.

Australian law requires psychosocial risk management

The model Code of Practice provides much-needed clarity on the steps businesses must take to prevent mental health incidents at work. Businesses that do not comply with the Code, or a similar model, may be exposed to significant claims. (Currently, state requirements vary).

Let's Talk provides a solution to manage your workplace's psychosocial risks

Businesses worldwide have employed physical health and safety standards for decades; the most sophisticated systems employ critical control monitoring for safety and risk management planning. Let’s Talk has adopted this approach for mental health standards, ensuring each psychosocial risk is effectively controlled. Besides providing initial guidance on which controls businesses should prioritise to avoid psychosocial hazards, Let’s Talk also offers an employee feedback system to identify the most important controls for reducing burnout. In addition, each user can design their own health and wellness monitoring system.

Let's Talk manages compliance with psychosocial legal requirements

Beyond critical control monitoring of psychosocial risk, Let’s Talk also provides in-depth analytics to monitor and assess the mental health risk status of a business: this includes compliance with OH&S legal requirements, prevention of psychosocial hazards or job stressors, employee wellness and engagement, and opportunities for improvement. Incorporate all of this analysis into your enterprise risk framework to enhance your existing risk management systems.
